Adam Smith – NECS Consultancy – describes his role

Wednesday 13th October 2021

Hello! My name is Adam Smith and I am one of the Regional Leads for the Yorkshire and Humber NECS Consultancy Team, working alongside Hilary Thompson, Regional Lead.

Four years ago I chose to work for NECS because of their vision and values. I have stayed with NECS because of the amazing people I work with, as well as the opportunities we are all given, and pride we have in caring about, organisations and people that we work with across health and care systems.

Since joining NECS, I have worked on a number of exciting and interesting programmes, including outpatient improvements, designing and embedding various programme management offices (PMOs) nationally and regionally and, more recently, supporting a number of Covid-19 related programmes. I am currently on an assignment working with Humber Coast and Vale (HCV) to provide PMO support for the transition into an Integrated Care System (ICS), including supporting the emerging HCV ICS Strategy.

I also have the opportunity to lead the Intelligent Programme Management Market Facing Team, something I am extremely passionate about, as we focus on enabling NECS as a Centre of Excellence for IPMO across health and care systems.

So, why do I love my job? I love my job because I get to see first-hand the support and value that NECS consultancy can add to the NHS and our local health and care systems, whether this it at an organisational, team or individual level.

This is without a doubt the best job I have ever had. The people, the work life balance and the type of work we deliver are all key to why I wake up every day and look forward to what’s ahead.

Over the coming months members of our Yorkshire and Humber Consultancy team will be introducing themselves via a series of blogs/vlogs, sharing their experiences, what they are passionate about, and how NECS supports them to develop and grow their passions.

Our Consultants have a wealth of knowledge and experience in many different sectors which allows us to tailor our support and ensure we will add value and sustainability to any project that we are working on. We take pride in leaving a positive legacy wherever we go, be it in the Yorkshire and Humber Region, or across national projects.

I hope you will enjoy our forthcoming monthly blogs/vlogs, and if you would like to know more or just have a chat about how we might be able to support you, then please do get in touch.

I continue to be really proud of the excellent consultancy work that we deliver and this series of blogs/vlogs will showcase where we are adding value, and demonstrate how we can support our local and national health and care system.
