Cathedral welcomes NHS staff to much-loved carol service

A popular carol service for NHS organisations across the North East and their families took place last night at Durham Cathedral.

Organised by NECS (NHS North of England Commissioning Support) on behalf of NHS organisations across the region the service, now in its 23rd year, has become a traditional favourite in the festive calendar.

The spectacular setting of Durham Cathedral welcomed NHS staff past and present with their family and friends to recognise these everyday heroes and celebrate the extraordinary work they do day in, day out. For the first time, this year the Cathedral specially invited NHS Chaplains to come along and be recognised for the part they play in the spiritual health of patients.

For the many staff who will be working over the Christmas holidays, the service is a perfect start to the festive celebrations. As has become a tradition at past services the choir was made up of NHS staff and associates who performed a variety of well-known carols.

Well done to all involved.
