Nicki Gibson, project manager, describes the rationale behind the name change of the ICT Programme and Projects team in the blog below.
Over the last few years, the nature of the ICT Programme and Projects team has evolved significantly.
When we started, General Practice Information Technology (GPIT) was a large part of our work, and whilst we still deliver GPIT we now also deliver so much more. We continue to work with our customers to deliver the best service possible and meet the ever changing needs of the NHS through Digital Transformation.
With the formation of Integrated Care Systems imminent, we feel now is the right time for a name change within our service. The rebrand will help us promote our services to our customers and make it clear of the services we are able to offer. As of 1 April, the team will be known as the Digital Transformation and Optimisation Service (DTOS).
Our new name reflects the evolution, skills and growth of the team, along with repositioning the service within the digital landscape that our customers and partners recognise.
The service will continue to provide health and care partners with quality, flexible and adaptable digital transformation resources to address priorities.
Corporate and customer communications, the service website and procedures are now being updated to reflect rebranding changes.
