We’ve supported the UEC network to successfully deliver the first step of the Great North Care Record

Friday 11th May 2018

Working in partnership we’ve supported the Urgent and Emergency Care Network successfully deliver the first step of the Great North Care Record (GNCR).  Enabling improved patient record-sharing for better, safer care and through the fast paced roll-out of the new Medical Interoperability Gateway (MIG) system, and underpinning regional Information Sharing Agreement, Urgent and Emergency Care clinicians can now securely access real-time GP patient records in the North East region.

Over the last 12 months, clinicians have safely accessed over 230,000 patient records using the MIG.  99% of North East GP practices have now agreed to share patient records with clinical staff involved in patient care (hospitals, out of hours doctors, mental health professionals and the ambulance service/NHS111) enabling them to make clinical decisions using the most up-to-date information, such as diagnoses, medications, details of hospitals admissions and treatments.
