A new collaboration has launched to accelerate the adoption of innovation within the NHS. The Life Science Hub is designed to connect life sciences organisations with the NHS with the aim of advancing innovation across the health and care system.
Built on a foundation of NHS insight, real-world analytics and strategic advisory expertise, the Hub addresses the core challenge of ensuring that proven technologies and treatments are adopted effectively, improve services for patients, and deliver efficiency and productivity gains.
Alison Tonge, Lead Director for the NHS Life Science Hubsaid: “Our approach is designed to create a clear route to healthcare innovation adoption, where NHS and industry work side by side to understand value, maximise outcomes and deliver transformation that matters.”
The Hub’s support centres on three interconnected pillars:
- Acceleration and adoption: Improving the effectiveness of bringing new treatments and technologies to market through evidence generation, market access and implementation support that accelerates adoption and impact.
- Maximising impact and optimisation: Utilising NHS data, clinical insights, and pathway expertise to optimise existing treatments via enhancing effectiveness, improving efficiency, and strengthening value.
- Strategic advisory support: Empowering the life sciences industry to successfully navigate complex NHS landscapes through strategic access support, operational deployment expertise and real-world insights that drive adoption and scale.
The Hub provides expertise spanning clinical, medicines management, public health, economic and change management disciplines, and delivers a blend of system-level understanding and practical delivery capability. It will support the way innovation is identified, adopted and scaled.
From health economic evaluations and service redesign to stakeholder engagement and training, the Hub provides tailored solutions to meet the specific needs of organisations whether they are attempting to engage the NHS for the first time or are established life sciences providers.
In addition to its work with industry, the Hub is also a resource for NHS organisations looking to explore and adopt innovation more effectively. Its services include:
- Generating evidence to inform decision-making and commissioning
- Redesigning care pathways for greater efficiency and impact
- Supporting end-to-end programme implementation for lasting change.
