Michaela Ferguson, one of our Service Desk Analysts at NECS, tells us about her level 3 apprenticeship and the advantages of taking part in an apprenticeship.

Why did you choose an apprenticeship?
My reason for choosing an apprenticeship was that I really liked the idea of learning and gaining a qualification whilst in a professional environment. I am more of a hands-on learner, and I knew an apprenticeship was just the thing for me!
Why did you apply for this apprenticeship?
I applied for the apprenticeship with NECS as I have always loved the idea of helping others and when I saw this apprenticeship was to help within the NHS I just knew I had to apply for the role.
What are the rewards of doing an apprenticeship?
The best reward is definitely gaining a qualification and further experience in something you have an interest in
Would you recommend apprenticeships to others?
Absolutely 100%, I would recommend anyone to do an apprenticeship!
Do you have any advice for future apprentices?
Just go for it! Doing an apprenticeship was the best thing I have ever done, it gave me the opportunity to explore different routes within my career that I would have never got the opportunity to do elsewhere
What do you feel are the advantages of doing an apprenticeship over other training or education?
An advantage is that you almost feel like you get a head start in your career doing an apprenticeship, as you are getting a monthly salary as well as learning and gaining experience as you go.
What are your future plans?
My future plans are to grow and progress as much as I can within NECS
