May 10, 2024

NECS are proud to have obtained a bronze award. This is a self-nominated award, which pledges our intention to support Defence, by taking a positive stance towards reservists who are either existing or prospective employees, supporting their training and mobilisation commitments.

The Employer Recognition Scheme recognises commitment and support from UK employers for defence personnel. The scheme comprises of bronze, silver and gold awards for employers who support those who serve or have served in the Armed Forces, and their families.

Some of our armed forces colleagues have shared their thoughts on this achievement:

Jonathan Millington, Support Services Team Leader, ICT Services team said: “I am so pleased that NECS has achieved the bronze award with the Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) for supporting the Armed Forces community. As Warrant Officer Class 2 in the Army Reserve Royal Signals, NECS have always supported my extra training commitments and deployments. NECS see the value of my transferable skills that benefit the organisation and its customers.”

Mel Thomson, Health & Justice Commissioner, Children & Young People team said: “As an armed forces veteran, I have had the greatest of pleasure working for NECS for the past seven years and being able to support the application for the armed forces bronze award. It makes me so proud that we have achieved this.

“Signing this pledge to support the armed forces underlines NECS’ commitment to being an armed forces-friendly employer. I know personally as a veteran that NECS are eager and open to employing reservists and armed forces veterans, who bring excellent transferable skills and demonstrate a mission focus essential in our ever-growing business. There are lots of support from fellow veterans when they do come on board.

“I know being part of the Veterans Wellbeing Group, my fellow Veterans and I, will continue to shape our support to the armed forces, and NECS are dedicated to helping military leavers transition successfully into second careers.”

NECS would like to thank everyone who has supported the organisation in this journey, and we hope this support will continue as we strive for silver!

Armed Forces Covenant

Back in February 2024, NECS signed the Armed Forces Covenant, showing our support and commitment to the Armed Forces Community. The Armed Forces Covenant is a promise from the nation that those who serve or have served in the armed forces, and their families, are treated fairly.
