Laura Edmondston and Kerry Jones from the Organisational Development and Continuous Improvement Team recently attended the County Durham Better Health at Work Awards (BHAWA) event to receive awards on behalf of NECS.

The event took place at Glow, in Newton Aycliffe, where 92 County Durham organisations received health and wellbeing awards. This is a free initiative, delivered by the health and wellbeing charity, Pioneering Care Partnership (PCP), which aims to encourage local organisations to improve their employees wellbeing and create a happier and healthier workforce.

NECS received the Better Health at Work Award for maintaining excellence, which is achieved by employers who have passed at all levels via the completion of a criteria document, portfolio and full workplace assessment.

NECS also won the Ambassador Award for maintaining excellence and received a recommendation from their designated Workplace Health Improvement Specialist. This is then passed through to the BHAWA Verification Panel for endorsement.

Kerry Jones said: “We would like to use this opportunity to thank everyone across NECS for their continued support in shaping our health and wellbeing offer and for completing the health assessment last year, the results of which will help inform our health and wellbeing strategy for 2025/26.”

NECS remains dedicated to enhancing the health and well-being of all its staff, recognising that a healthy workforce is essential for delivering high-quality services. We are committed to fostering a positive and supportive work environment, ensuring that staff have access to the tools and support they need to thrive.
