Waiting Well, a digital solution from the RAIDR team at NECS, has been shortlisted for the Patient Safety in Elective Recovery Award at this year’s HSJ Patient Safety Awards which recognises safety, culture and positive experience in patient care.

The HSJ Patient Safety Awards acknowledge the hard-working teams and individuals across the UK who are continually striving to deliver improved patient care.

RAIDR is the UK’s leading health intelligence tool and is used throughout the country. It underpins our approach to Population Health Management using advanced analytical techniques which link and aggregate data to provide comprehensive cohort analysis.

Val Maddison, Head of Analytics (Information Services and BI Tools) at NECS, said: “The RAIDR Waiting Well dashboard, developed by NECS, utilises Primary Care data from GP clinical systems, combined with the national Elective Waiting List (EWL) minimum dataset which is provided weekly by every NHS Trust and Independent Sector Provider (ISP) across England and identifies all patients waiting for an elective procedure. The dashboard provides up to date information about a patient’s health conditions, allowing the team to identify potential risk factors and unmanaged health conditions which may prevent them from being eligible for their intended procedure.”

Marie Irons, RAIDR Information Solutions Manager, added: “It’s an absolute honour to have been shortlisted for the HSJ Patient Safety award. RAIDR is a fantastic, user friendly tool which, at the touch of a button, can be used to provide vital information to clinicians who might not ordinarily have it readily available to them and allows them to help patients wait well for their surgery.”

Winners will be announced during the awards ceremony at Manchester Central on 18 September 2023. For more information on RAIDR, contact necsu.raidr@nhs.net
