Eight members of the NECS London Consultancy team recently took part in a meaningful volunteering day at Haven House Children’s Hospice. The day marked the beginning of our new partnership with the hospice, an inspiring organisation that provides vital care and support to seriously ill children and their families.
One of the team, Farah Halim, a Graduate Consultant with NECS, shares her experience of the day:
“Located in the serene surroundings of Woodford Green, Haven House offers a compassionate and supportive environment for babies and children (up to the age of 18). Its services extend well beyond the hospice itself, reaching into homes and communities across the region through day care, overnight stays, end-of-life care, bereavement support and therapeutic services, including sensory play, music and physiotherapy.
“Our team spent the day clearing the hospice’s sensory gardens to prepare the space for a beautiful new garden donated by the Chelsea Flower Show. The work was physical but deeply rewarding, knowing that our efforts would help lay the groundwork for a space that will soon provide peace, beauty and comfort to children and families who need it most.
“In the afternoon, we had the privilege of touring the hospice, led by Chief Executive Ralph Coulbeck. Hearing first-hand about the work being done and its impact was both humbling and enlightening. It offered us a deeper understanding of the difference Haven House makes every day and strengthened our resolve to continue supporting their mission.
“This mission strongly aligns with the NECS values, particularly our commitment to giving back and making a positive difference in the communities we work in. Volunteering at Haven House was not only fulfilling but also a reminder of the power of community, compassion and teamwork. I would highly recommend this experience to others, whether as individuals or teams.
“We look forward to supporting their Sparkle Walk on 6th June 2025. More information about the Sparkle Walk can be found at Sparkle Walk 2025.”
