Rachael Earl, Senior Consultant in the NECS Yorkshire and Humber team, shares details of the upcoming Save the Children UK, Christmas Jumper Day taking place on Thursday 11 December 2025 and how you can take part.
“Each year at Christmas time, Save the Children UK encourage as many people as possible to wear a Christmas jumper for the day and make a donation to their charity.
“Since the first launch of Christmas Jumper Day in 2012, millions of people have donned a jumper and helped make things better for children in the UK and around the world.
Save The Children- Charitable Work
“86p in every £1 raised by Save the Children goes directly to helping children. The support they offer to children is wide ranging, from helping to access quality education and healthcare, to protecting them from violence.
“Save the Children help children across 93 countries and within the UK, are one of our leading child poverty charities. In the UK, 31% of children live in poverty. Save the Children provide practical support to these families and fight for systemic change. Immediate support includes baby banks, holiday hunger programmes and cost of living grants, whilst longer term they campaign for policy reform to tackle the root cause of poverty.
“Examples of how donations have helped children in the UK include:
- Families Connect Programme: Children from lower income families are 50% less likely to do as well at school as their classmates. They support tens of thousands of children’s learning via this programme.
- In nurseries to support parents struggling with the cost of childcare.
- Early years grants: they provide families with Supermarket vouchers to reduce immediate financial stress and carefully curated play packs (Wonderpacks) to support play and interaction in the home.
