Gursharan Kaur, Senior Manager in NECS Consultancy, tells us what inspiring inclusion means to her, what it means to be a speaker at this year’s TUC’s Women conference and updates us on some of the important themes that were covered.
“Happy International Women’s Day!
“Women play an integral role in every aspect of society, and yet are still fighting for their rights. The theme for International Women’s Day this year is: Inspiring Inclusion.
“Inspiring Inclusion to me means bringing our whole selves to work and every space we enter. We do not need to leave a part of us at home, when coming into work or anywhere else for that matter. I am honoured to spend the International Women’s Day this year at TUC’s Women’s conference, representing MiP as part of the FDA delegation. It has been shocking to hear the inequalities women still face in different sectors including healthcare, especially in relation to periods and the various stages of Menopause. On behalf of the FDA delegation, I had the opportunity to speak on the motion of Menopause in the workplace, calling for all employers to develop Menopause guidance, policies and implementing supportive measures to ensure the workplace is an inclusive place and experience for all women.
“I was pleased to hear the keynote speech from the Shadow Secretary of State for Women and Equalities, Anneliese Dodds this morning, and her continued commitment and support to drive inclusion and equalities for women.
“I invite everyone to make a personal commitment to lifting and inspiring women in their lives; at home, at workplaces, in our communities and society at large to support inclusion and equality.”
