Why do we need a Digital DSR?

Preventing mental health crisis and avoidable hospital admission remains one of the biggest challenges health and care systems face today, particularly for autistic people and children and young people, where the numbers are rising.

Dynamic Support Registers (DSRs), designed to help risk stratify and provide support to those at greatest risk, are essential for system partners to address this challenge. However, they can be resource intensive and difficult to manage. Most systems are relying on Excel and there is huge variation within and between systems in how DSRs are being applied.

The digital solution

A new completely customisable cost effective Digital DSR Tool developed by NECS CSU, in partnership with Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent ICS, is proving to be a game changer in maximising the potential of DSRs and offering huge benefits:

  • “It reduces the administrative burden on our small team managing the DSR. It frees us up to focus on coordinating support instead of being bogged down by recording, managing, and chasing information”
  • “With just a click, the tool generates current, detailed management reports on crisis prevalence, trends over time, and root causes. This data empowers our Strategic Board to make evidence-based decisions and develop informed plans. Additionally, it promotes standardized and equitable risk management across our locations”
  • “As a system partner, I can now access the DSR, make a referral and follow-up or keep an eye on what’s happening in real time’. My experience of working with the DSR and connectivity to the central team is much easier”
  • “As a CIO, the tool has helped me to ensure that information is being shared and stored safely and strengthen information governance”.
