Creating a Care Home with Heart and Adapting to the Pandemic

Quote Left

“We have been using Capacity Tracker for at least two years. More should embrace it. It helped solve my biggest headache – occupancy. We have to be efficient in use of beds and time ringing around to fill them could be better invested in running the care home. Capacity Tracker is a way of saying 'I have a vacancy and we may be able to help you'. For instance we had a council in London call us to find a bed in York for a gentleman who wanted to be closer to his family and receive end of life care. They would have found us sooner if they had used Capacity Tracker and the gentleman could have spent more time close to his family in the area. So, it's not just care homes trying to fill beds – it’s about making a difference to families and people at often the most important stage of their lives.

Public consultation on the future of urgent care services at the Friarage Hospital in Northallerton

Quote Left

NECS supported Hambleton, Richmondshire and Whitby CCG with the communications and engagement work for the Friarage Hospital Urgent Care public consultation which took place between 13 September 2019 and 17 January 2020. Members of NECS were involved in various aspects of the planning and running of activities including producing consultation materials, developing a survey, PR, managing a series of public events and focus groups, market research and analysis. The support and advice provided by NECS throughout this period was invaluable and as a CCG we were delighted with the guidance and communications management provided. Thank you to the communications and engagement team at NECS for supplying work of consistently high quality and for delivering a robust process through their effective approach to this consultation. Ben, Rebecca and team were fabulous – they quickly became part of our own team – produced very high quality input and went above and beyond our expectations – they really were indispensable.

It really works! Absolutely excellent - many congratulations to you and your colleagues. I actually couldn’t believe that it would be so simple. My smartcard was recognised straight away with no additional installation needed. Amazing. Makes a big difference in being able to do e-prescribing.

Legal battle to offer Avastin to patients

Quote Left

The drug is undeniably equally effective and much less expensive, and the money this will save – in excess of £13.5 million per year for the 12 CCGs involved in the litigation alone and hundreds of millions of pounds across the country – can be ploughed straight back into delivering the very best care possible to our patients. Here in the North, that’s enough to pay for an extra 270 nurses or 266 heart transplants every year, and in a financially stretched NHS that could be life changing for thousands of our patients.
